Description

Ammunition is finite. Even the vast guns of the Sleipnir will someday fall silent. And when that day comes, there must be weapons for the fleet to defend itself or it will be lost.

To combat this inevitability, the weaponsmiths aboard the Sleipnir have dedicated themselves to creating weapons that are sustainable. By using easily sourced materials, reusable ammunition and a platform that can be modified to suit whatever situations arise, the weaponsmiths crafted the Dynamo Harpoon Cannons.

The cannons themselves work on spring power, a large torsion winch that is wound by the gunner using pedals. While the gunner is winding the spring, a loader is also pedaling in the seat beside them charging up electricity into a capacitor that is routed via copper cable to the harpoon mounted inside the cannon. When the weapon is fired, the gunner checks to see if a hit has been scored through spyglass and then either reels the fired harpoon in after disarming the battery or discharges the electricity into the target.

This weapon is moderately effective against the giant insects that occasionally attack the fleet. But it is truly dangerous to any pirates whose vessels are made of metal.
